What better way to get into the holiday spirit than by looking at all

the festive homes and boats in Huntington Harbour decked to the hilt in

lights, Santas, reindeer and menorahs.

Revelers can see the sparkling lights and decorations for 10 days

beginning Dec. 13. It’s part of the Huntington Harbour Philharmonic

Committee’s 39th annual Cruise of Lights, which will take observers on a

narrated boat tour through harbor waters, showcasing the decorated homes

and boats.

Reflections of the lights on the water is what makes this event shine

for Lucinda Prewitt, public relations chairwoman for the society.

“People go all out, and it’s neat because you’re on the boat and see

all the lights reflected,” Prewitt said. “Being on the boat is a lot more

festive. It’s chilly so you get some kind of holiday feeling.”

Prewitt encourages people to make reservations as soon as possible to

ensure a spot on one of the four boats that go out each hour.

Riders should meet at the Huntington Harbour Mall on Algonquin Street

in Huntington Beach where a shuttle will take them to the docks, Prewitt

said.

“Unless you know someone that lives in the harbour,” she said.

Boats cruise the harbor nightly at 6, 7, and 8 p.m., and the cruises

last 45 minutes to an hour.

Prewitt said 23,000 people came out last year and expects to see that

many again this holiday season.

Children ages 2 to 12 are $6 and adults are $10 during the week and

$12 on the weekend.
