Benjamin Sonne and Chase Fedderson, both 13, have earned the highest

award the Boy Scouts of America offers to scouts, The Eagle Scout Award.

They were recognized at ceremonies on Nov. 24 at the Church of Latter-day

Saints. They are members of Troop 492. Each candidate must earn 21 merit

badges and complete a community service project to earn the award. Sonne

and Fedderson made improvements to the Huntington Beach Jr. Lifeguard

Headquarters. Sonne is a student at Sowers Middle School and the son of

Christian and Kathryn Sonne of Huntington Beach. Fedderson is also a

student at Sowers and is the son of Dana and Marlene Fedderson of

Huntington Beach. . . . Leslie Elizabeth Jellick is a peer academic

advisor in the 2001-02 Meiklejohn program at Brown University. The

program serves to aid first-year students in their academic planning.

Advisors are chosen from a pool of applicants based on their knowledge of

the Brown curriculum and their ability to relate to beginning students.

Jellick is a first-semester senior at Brown, concentrating in

International Relations and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Jellick

of Huntington Beach.
