The author of an alternative runway plan for an El Toro airport is set

to appear on KOCE’s “Real Orange” show at 7 p.m. today.

Charles Griffin, the Newport Beach resident and author of the V-plan,

has been scheduled to appear on the live show to explain his proposal.

Griffin’s New Millennium Group has been gathering signatures for the

Reasonable Airport Alternative Initiative, which would change the zoning

at the base to allow the V-plan to be implemented.

If implemented, the base’s crossbar runway would be realigned in a “V”

pattern. Planes would take off to the southwest instead of the county’s

plan to send them north and east.
