Boys soccer: Cerutti stars for CdM

IRVINE - Sophomore midfielder Julien Cerutti of Corona del Mar High

scored two goals Friday as the Sea Kings defeated host Irvine, 4-3, in a

nonleague boys soccer game.

With CdM (1-1) trailing at halftime, 2-1, Cerutti tied the game in the

60th minute, then sophomore forward Danny Whitaker scored five minutes

later to put the visitors in front. Chris Ringstrom, a sophomore outside

midfielder, scored for CdM in the 70th minute for a two-goal cushion.

Irvine scored on a penalty kick in the last three minutes.

CdM, also led by goalie Geoff Collier’s three saves, will host Ocean

View in a nonleague game Wednesday at 3 p.m.
