Danielle Elisa Shedd of Corona del Mar and Mark Edmund Slymen of

Mission Viejo exchanged wedding vows Oct. 13 at the South Shores Church

in Monarch Beach.

The bride is the daughter Steven and Terri Shedd of Irvine.

The matron of honor was Amber Stinson, and the bridesmaids were Amy

Salceda, Lindsay McPhetridge, Karin Graves, Brenda Hyman, Keri Olson,

Tami Jacobson, Chrissie Krusic and Laura Slymen.

The bride wore a white crepe strapless A-line gown with a lace and

pearl bodice.

The groom is the son of Edmund and Nita Slymen of Mission Viejo.

The best man was Danny O’Neil, and the ushers were John O’Neil, Kevin

O’Neil, Luke Slymen, Steve Olson, Gabe Sullivan, Hagen Grantham, Todd

Beebe and Mike Mathisrud.

A reception, attended by 240 guests, was held at the Four Seasons

Hotel in Newport Beach.

The bride is a first-grade teacher in the Santa Ana School District,

and the groom is in a family business in Laguna Beach. The couple

honeymooned in Bora Bora and Moorea, and now live in Aliso Viejo.

Varela-Romero

Juan Pablo Varela and Elena Nelida Diaz of La Coruna, Spain, announce

the engagement of their daughter, Helena Varela, to Alex. M. Romero of

Costa Mesa.

The groom-to-be is the son of Patric and Martha Romero of Riverside.

He is employed at Datasphere Inc. in Irvine. A Dec. 7 wedding is planned

at a private garden ceremony at the home of the groom’s parents in

Riverside.

The couple plan to live in Costa Mesa following a 1 1/2-week wedding trip to Big Bear.
