Wrestling: Geier pins on Foothill title

SANTA ANA - Newport Harbor High junior Nate Geier, wrestling at 125

pounds, went undefeated in nine matches with seven pins and two forfeits

to win his weight classification Saturday at the Foothill Duel-Meet

Tournament (10 teams).

Geier, a transfer from Green Valley High in Las Vegas, pinned six of

his seven opponents in the first two periods, including Corona del Mar’s

Brian Freedman in 1:32. Geier’s quickest pin came in 23 seconds.

CdM defeated Newport Harbor, 47-30, in the dual meet.

Newport Harbor’s Kid Lim placed third at 103 pounds, finishing the

round-robin tournament with a 7-2 record.
