African-American and Hispanic high school seniors are invited to apply

for $1,000 scholarships from Ronald McDonald House Charities.

For African-American seniors, part of the application process is

writing an essay describing how their leadership has played an integral

role in giving back to others and how they plan to continue to positively

impact their communities.

During the celebration of Black History Month in February, scholarship

recipients will be honored for their achievements at a recognition

luncheon.

“Supporting the education of our youth is not only sociallyresponsible

behavior, but at the crux of McDonald’s values as a a community partner

and citizen,” said program chair Patricia Harper-Williams, a local

McDonald’s owner and operator.

Students can obtain applications through their guidance counselors.

The deadline is Jan. 14.

Hispanic high school seniors in Orange County are also invited to

apply for a $1,000 college scholarship from the program.

The program will award $125,000 in scholarships to Southern California

students in its continuing efforts to assist promising students in

overcoming financial obstacles.
