Girls basketball: Sailors defeated

Newport Harbor fell behind early and couldn’t recover in a 38-17

loss to Thousand Oaks in the second round of the University girls

basketball tournament Monday.

Thousand Oaks went on a 12-4 run to start the game and led, 17-8, at

halftime. Evita Castillo scored 11 points and had 10 rebounds for the

Sailors.

Newport plays its next game of the tournament Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
