Boys basketball: Sea Kings triumph

WESTMINSTER - Ryan Curry described the feeling as a big sigh

because his Corona del Mar High boys basketball team gave him his first

victory, 66-58, as a Sea King coach Tuesday in a consolation quarterfinal

of the La Quinta Tournament.

Kevin Mancillas scored 31 points to lead CdM (1-2) to the victory over

La Quinta High, while Bret Matsen scored 10 points.

“We got off to a good start,” Curry said. “Kevin, I thought, played a

real great game. He let the game come to him.”

Corona del Mar will play at 8 p.m. on Thursday.
