North and Central Orange County residents can exchange their old

toilets for newer, more efficient ones at a Huntington Beach area high

school this weekend.

Residents can get as many as two free water efficient toilets by

bringing their water bill and a photo ID to Ocean View High School, 17071

Gothard St. in Huntington Beach between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday.

The toilet trade-in is a collaborative effort of the Orange County

Water District, Orange County Sanitation District, Municipal Water

District of Orange County and Metropolitan Water District to encourage

residents to take a role in water conservation.

Free toilets will be loaded into participants’ cars in the school’s

parking lot on a first come, first served basis.

Toilet recipients will have two weeks to install their new toilets and

are asked to bring their old toilets to the school on Dec. 22 so they can

be recycled.

The toilets are the standard 12 inches and are only available in

white. Wax rings, bolts and installation information will be included

with the toilets that retail for more than $120.

The newer toilets use 1.6 gallons of water per flush compared to older

models that use five to seven gallons per flush.
