Boys baskteball: Lightning muffled

IRVINE - Sage Hill High sophomore forward Kevin Joyce had 13 of his

team-high 16 points in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to overcome

a cold-shooting second quarter for the Lightning, which dropped a 61-52

boys basketball pool-play decision to Zinsmeyer Monday in the Tarbut

V’Torah Tournament.

Joyce also added a team-high 12 rebounds, while junior teammate

Michael Fitzhugh added 11 points and 10 boards for Sage Hill (0-2), which

meets host Tarbut V’Torah today at 4 in the second of three pool-play

contests.

Zinsmeyer, which trailed, 9-8, after one period, took advantage of a

Sage Hill shooting drought to outscore the Lightning, 22-12, in the

second quarter.
