Girls soccer: Mesa blanks Laguna Hills, 1-0
COSTA MESA - Sharon Day scored in the 61st minute and the Costa
Mesa High girls soccer team posted its fifth shutout of the season to
give the Mustangs a 1-0 victory over visiting Laguna Hills, in nonleague
action Tuesday.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlyn Gentling recorded four saves to anchor
the defense that helped the Mustangs improve to 5-2.
“The defense is coming together pretty well,” Mesa Coach Dan Johnston
said. “(Laguna Hills) outplayed us in the first half, but the second half
was all ours.”
Mesa will resume action Thursday at 3:15 p.m., playing at Garden
Grove.
