AYSO Region 120: Thunderhawks come on strong

The Thunderhawks, Costa Mesa’s boys under-13 APP team, earned a 5-0

shutout against Laguna Niguel in an AYSO Region 120 soccer game.

Thomas Kosnosky was strong in the net and was supported by the defense

of Ben Abbott, Alberto Nava, Caleb Burgess, William Briseno and Kenneth

Zich.

Hayden Hiatt scored the only goal of the first half with support from

Austin Evett.

Rigo Miranda made a cross pass to Hiatt, who found the back of the net

in the second half to put the Thunderhawks ahead, 2-0.

Miranda struck again with help from Benny Edles, Starnes Arnold, Matt

Grella, Luis Cozza, Evett and Adam Seagondollar. Hiatt scored again and

Nava fired one in for a goal to seal the win.

In boys under-14 action:

*The Silver Tigers, coached by Jose Guitierrez, defeated a Corona del

Mar opponent, 2-0, in the Area Q playoffs Tuesday.

Avan Pasillas Buena and Brian Henriquez scored the winning goals for

the Silver Tigers.

Matt Pisarski had 13 saves in three quarters of play, and Pierce Rubin

had three saves.

Nick Straubel, Joshua Henrickson, Mick Miettinen, Danny Gomez, Andrew

Cendoya, Alfredo Gonzalez, Andrew Mahle, Michael Meija, Kent Morton, Eric

West and Sal Burciaga all contributed toward the victory.
