The Huntington Beach Police Department recently recognized 50 members

of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program at a luncheon at the Olive Garden

Restaurant on Beach Boulevard.

Community members and the police department thanked all volunteers who

have worked in the program since its inception in 1994 through the most

recent volunteers, with a certificate of achievement and a uniform pin by

Police Chief Ronald Lowenberg.

Special awards were presented to volunteers who demonstrated

exceptional dedication to volunteerism and their work with the police

department.

Tom Ohlendorf and Robert Snyder received the Orange County Volunteer

Center RSVP Award; Bob Stephenson received the Orange County Volunteer

Center Spirit of Volunteerism Award; Barbara Rainey received the

“Volunteer of the Month” award; Shirley Salter was awarded “Rookie of the

Year” and Marge Knack received the program’s Most Valuable Player award

for the time and skills she gave to the department in 2001.
