Prep football: Craig, Gaeta in All-Star clash
CERRITOS - Newport Harbor High senior football standouts Morgan
Craig and Brian Gaeta have been chosen to play in the second annual
Orange County-Los Angeles County All-Star football game, scheduled
Saturday at 3 p.m. at Cerritos College.
Craig, the Sea View League Offensive Player of the Year, quarterbacked
the Sailors to a league title and a trip to the CIF Southern Section
Division VI semifinals.
He completed 124 of 196 passes (63.3%) for 1,614 yards and 23
touchdowns this fall, his second season as a starter. He also rushed for
415 yards and three TDs.
Gaeta, a receiver and cornerback, missed nearly six games with torn
ankle ligaments for the 10-2-1 Sailors. The two-time first-team
all-league performer caught 27 passes for 336 yards and three TDs. He
also had one interception.
Orange County, which began practicing Monday, will be coached by
Brethren Christian head man Bruce Eien.
Santa Fe High’s Jack Mahlstede will coach the Los Angeles squad.
