Girls basketball: El Mo tops Mesa, 50-31

COSTA MESA - Norelle Dickson scored 19 points for El Modena High as

the Vanguards defeated host Costa Mesa, 50-31, Thursday night in a

nonleague girls basketball game.

The Mustangs (2-4), who trailed the whole game, scored in single

digits in each of the four quarters. Rhondi Naff had eight points and

four rebounds for Mesa, while Christine Caron added seven points and four

boards.

The Mustangs play Lakewood in the first round of the Artesia

Tournament on Tuesday.
