College Swimming and Diving: Anteaters triumph

The UC Irvine men’s swimming and diving team defeated Cal Baptist,

157.5-74.5, while the women’s squad also beat the Lancers, 178-62, in

dual meets Friday at the Anteater Aquatics Complex.

In the men’s competition, UCI senior Chris Boyer placed first in the

100-yard freestyle in 48.79 and took second in the 200-yard freestyle in

1:45.08.

Brian Kim won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:14.17 for the Anteaters

and was a runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:02.81.

UCI diver Ted Zervoudakis took first in the one- and three-meter

diving events while teammate Blair Roberts took second in both events.

The UCI women’s team was paced by freshman Abby Zern, who was first in

the 500-yard freestyle in 5:17.02 and the 200-yard freestyle in 2:00.60.

Freshman Kim Do won the 100-yard freestyle in 53.71 and took second in

the 50-yard freestyle in 24.68 for the Anteaters.

Teammate Melissa Milmine was the top finisher in the one-meter diving

event with a score of 257.78. Milmine qualified for the NCAA diving

regional in Palo Alto in March. Junior Tiffany Bradford also qualified

for the regional by winning the three-meter board event with a score of

283.20.

The UCI men’s and women’s team face Central Washington today at noon.
