Women’s basketball: UCI finished off by LMU
Loyola Marymount held the UC Irvine women’s basketball team to two
points in the last five minutes of the game to erase an eight-point
deficit and earn a 66-60 nonconference victory at the Bren Events Center
Sunday.
The Lions ended the game strong, going on a 16-2 run to improve to 7-2
overall. The Anteaters were not so hot in the second half. After taking a
36-34 lead at halftime, UCI shot 27.6% from the field.
Bryn Britton scored a game-high 22 points for Loyola Marymount while
Cindy Oparah had her sixth double-double of the year. She led the
Anteaters with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Lisa Woznick came off the bench to pile up 13 points for UCI. Kimberly
Martin and Kristen Green each added 10 points for the Anteaters (1-7).
In her second career game, UCI’s Ashley Biggins grabbed eight rebounds
in 12 minutes of play.
