WEATHER FORECAST

Well, the sunshine had to end at some point. You know the song “It

never rains in Southern California?” Yeah, totally false. Today’s proof

of it as scattered showers sweep through the Southland, and Newport-Mesa

this morning and afternoon. The highs will remain cool and fall shy of 60

this afternoon.

Lows will again drop into the mid-40s overnight. Clouds will reappear

Friday but shouldn’t drop into water. However, don’t fear, for you can

look forward to a relatively warm weekend.

BOATING FORECAST

The westerly winds will start off light at 10 knots early in the inner

waters but will become northwesterly and will build to 15 to 20 knots

this afternoon. The waves will be in the 3-foot range, and the west swell

will be about 7 to 10 feet. Later, the swell will build 9 to 11 feet.

Out farther, the southwesterly winds will blow 10 to 20 knots early

before becoming northwesterly and building to 15 to 25 knots this

afternoon. The combined seas will be about 12 to 16 feet. Later, they’ll

build to 17 to 20 knots.

SURF

Though rain might increase the urban runoff today, the waves are

starting to pick up. Standout spots should be in the chest- to head-high

zone. By Friday, those same spots may see some overheads. And, amazingly,

Saturday’s expecting an additional increase in height. Enjoy it while you

got it.
