College swimming: UCI swimmers honored

UC Irvine junior Attila Szilagyi and freshman Kim Do were named Big

West Conference Athletes of the Week in swimming.

Szilagyi was first in the 500-yard freestyle and competed in the

200-yard medley relay to lead UCI to a first-place finish in a dual-meet

victory over Cal Baptist last week. He also finished first in the

200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard breaststroke in Saturday’s

victory over Central Washington.

For the women’s squad, Do won the 100-yard freestyle and placed second

in the 50-yard freestyle in UCI’s meet against Cal Baptist. In the

Anteaters’ meet with Central Washington Saturday, Do took first in the

100-yard backstroke and second in the 200-yard freestyle.
