Men’s basketball: Green dominates in Green Bay
Senior guard Jerry Green scored 27 points to lead the UC Irvine
men’s basketball team to a 79-62 first-round victory over Lipscomb in the
Oneida Classic hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Friday.
Jordan Harris chipped in with 16 points and 10 rebounds for the
Anteaters (7-4). Also contributing for UCI were Mike Hood (10 points),
Adam Parada (nine points, five rebounds) and Stanislav Zuzak (eight
points, 11 rebounds).
The Anteaters cruised to a 39-23 lead at halftime. They made only
three of 15 three-point attempts, but managed to hit 20 of 32 free-throw
attempts. Lipscomb drops to 2-9.
Green, who took a 23.0 scoring average into the game, brings his
career total to 1,599 points. He ranks third on UCI’s career scoring
list, but is only two points away from No. 2 Dave Baker. Tod Murphy holds
the record for most UCI career points with 1,778.
