Coastal Commission needs photo contest entries

The California Coastal Commission is currently hosting its fourth

annual Amateur Photography Competition in an effort to “pay tribute to

the resources it is mandated to protect -- California’s spectacular coast

and ocean.”

All interested amateur photographers who earn less than 50% of their

income from photography have until March 15 to send in photos that depict

California’s scenic coast, the way people use the coast and coastal

wildlife.

Photos must be taken from a public place and should be in color.

They should document coastal resources protected by Coastal Commission

action, such as public accessways to beaches and beaches themselves.

Wetlands and agricultural land are encouraged.

Any plants and animals photographed should be the native species in

their natural setting.

The grand prize winner will receive a choice of a two-night stay in a

luxury hotel in San Francisco and a spa day courtesy of San Francisco

Magazine and a sightseeing package; or a two-night stay at the Sheraton

Universal Hotel courtesy of Away We Go Travel, plus tickets to Universal

Studios courtesy of K-EARTH Radio; or four tickets for a yacht cruise

courtesy of Hornblower Cruises & Events.

Second and third place winners will choose from the remaining prizes.

Entries must be postmarked by March 15 and a “Photographers Consent,

Waiver of Liability, Indemnity and Release Form” must be signed and

submitted at the time of entry.
