Sarah Suanders of Huntington Beach High School was named a Regional

Junior Board of Directors member for the American Cancer Society. The

board is the first of its kind for the cancer society. The goal of the

board is to heighten awareness of cancer early detection and prevention

among children and teens. . . . Huntington Beach’s Taylor Bentley has

made the fall semester dean’s list at Southwest Missouri State University

in Springfield, Mo. For an undergraduate student to make the list, the

student must enroll in at least 12 credit hours during the fall semester

and maintain at least a 3.5 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. Of the

19,160 students enrolled during the fall semester at Southwest Missouri

State, Bentley was one of 3,420 students to make the dean’s list. . . .

Kevin Brown Marketing and Consulting firm, based in Huntington Beach, is

celebrating its 10th anniversary. The firm’s services include marketing

management, strategic planning, marketing materials/graphic design,

advertising and public relations. . . . Air Force Airman 1st Class Troy

Wojtkiewicz has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air

Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During training Wojtkiewicz studied the

Air Force mission, organization, customs and received physical training

and special training in human relations. He is the son of Norman

Wojtkiewicz of Huntington Beach and stepson of Lance Desteuben of Garden

Grove. He is a 1999 graduate of Marina High School. . . . Army Pvt.

Jeremy Ruiz has graduated from basic combat military training at Fort

Sill, Lawton Okla. During training Ruiz’s instruction included drill,

weapons, map reading, first aid and Army history.
