THOUGHTS FROM THE SCENE: The weather was cold with brilliant clear

spots in between patchy clouds while I was taking photos of a soccer game

at Costa Mesa High School. I love taking weather pictures and kept in the

back of my mind to be on the lookout for a “sky” idea.

Sometimes you don’t have to go far to get a picture and today was my

day. I noticed a noticed a couple of kids starting to play basketball.

Hoop nets are perfect to illustrate the weather because they are up high.

I hoped the kids would stay because the sun would soon be setting.

During soccer game’s half-time, I ran over to the court and found the

angle, including the cloud and blue sky. All I needed was a player to lay

up the ball, so he looked like he was shooting for the sky.
