Newport sails, 16-2

Aliso Niguel High’s Wolverines were no match for Sea View League

heavyweight Newport Harbor in the league-opener for both girls water polo

teams Wednesday as the visiting Sailors swept to a 16-2 victory.

Jessica Ball, Amanda Moss and Paige Lansing each scored three goals

and Katherine Belden and Amber Braly each scored twice in the runaway. It

was 8-0 after the first quartrer and 11-0 at halftime.

Katie Erickson had four assists, Annie Wight had four steals and Ball

and Braley also had three steals in the mismatch.

Newport improved to 10-2 overall as it girds the Santa Barbara

Tournament Friday and Saturday.
