Huntington man dies while walking dog
A Huntington Beach man was killed while walking his dog Monday.
Paul Reilly, 63 was crossing at an intersection with his white
Labrador Retriever when he was hit by a pickup truck, police said.
The accident occurred at 6:25 a.m. Monday when 60-year-old Arthur
Dominguez of Nuevo, driving a blue Chevrolet pickup truck, struck Reilly
in the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Brookhurst Street, said
Lt. Ron Burgess of the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Paramedics transported Reilly to Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian
in Newport Beach where he later died from injuries sustained during the
collision, Burgess said.
Drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the collision and Dominguez was
not arrested or cited at the scene, police said.
The dog survived the accident but suffered cuts to its left leg and
was taken by Orange County Animal Control authorities, police said.
The police department’s traffic bureau is investigating the accident.
