Miss Teen Huntington Beach, Lynette Hibben, won two national

competition events in the Teen division (16- and 17-year-olds) at the

American Coed National Pageant at the Walt Disney World Resort Hilton in

Orlando, Fla. in November. She won the Volunteer Service 2001 award and

the Miss Actress 2001 award. Hibben was crowned as a 2001 National Teen

Hostess, which she won at a pageant held in May at the Los Angeles

Airport Marriott. She is a senior at Huntington Beach High School and

plans to graduate in 2002. . . . Marabeth Madsen and Barbara McCoy

received the 2002 Kennedy-Kolpin Bolsa Chica Conservation Award for their

volunteer service for the Bolsa Chica Stewards’ native plant project over

the past five years. The goal of the project is to return the native

Coastal Sage Scrub habitat to the area. Madsen is now a student at UC.

Santa Cruz and McCoy is a student at Cal State Long Beach. . . . Army

Pvt. Dan Denzler has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort

Benning, Columbus, Ga. His training included instruction in drill and

ceremonies, weapons, map reading and first aid. He is the son of Debi

Denzler of Huntington Beach and Frank Denzler of Mesa, Ariz. Denzler is a

2001 graduate of Marina High School. . . . Army Pvt. Mayra Moreno has

graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Moreno’s

training included instruction in marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and

unarmed combat and Army values and principles. Moreno is the daughter of

Javier Moreno of Huntington Beach. She is a 2001 graduate of Huntington

Beach High School.
