Mariners school will host blood drive
While publicity over blood drives has subsided since the aftermath of
the Sept. 11 attacks, students at a school in Costa Mesa are renewing the
effort to replenish the area’s blood supplies.
On Friday, eighth-grade students form Mariners Christian School will
host a blood drive for the American Red Cross to fulfill a specific need
in the community.
To make the blood drive successful, students have been distributing
flyers, displaying posters and banners, calling friends and family
members and walking the school hallways to recruit blood donors.
The goal is for each of the 75 students to register two to four
individuals for blood donation appointments.
During the blood drive, students will assist with setup and cleanup,
serve homemade cookies and fruit juice and personally thank donors for
giving blood to save lives.
