UC Irvine senior guard Jerry Green was named Big West Conference

Player of the Week for men’s basketball.

He scored a game-high 31 points and made the game-winning shot at the

buzzer to lift UCI over host Utah State, 67-66, Thursday to snap the

Aggies’ 31-game win streak at home.

Green added 14 points in the Anteaters’ 92-54 victory at Idaho

Saturday, marking the 27th straight game he has scored in double figures.

Last week, Green shot 57% from the floor, 54% from three-point range

and made all of his free-throw attempts.

Green, last year’s Big West Player of the Year, earned conference

player of the week honors for the second time this year. He has 1,703

career points to rank No. 2 at UCI, 75 points behind leader Tod Murphy.

Green leads the Big West in scoring at 22.6 points per game this season

and is ninth in the nation.

Going into this week, the Anteaters are ranked No. 1 in the NCAA for

field-goal percentage (.508) and No. 5 for three-point field goal

percentage (.425).
