Boys basketball: Sage Hill defeated

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO - The Sage Hill High boys basketball team

closed an 18-point deficit to five with a furious fourth-quarter rally,

but couldn’t come all the way back in a 54-45 Academy League road loss to

St. Margaret’s Tuesday.

Foul trouble by key players Mike Fitzhugh (13 points) and Kevin Joyce

(19) helped the Tartans (7-8, 3-1 in league) hold off the Lightning (4-6,

1-2).

Junior point guard Erik Williams had eight rebounds and seven points

for the Lightning, which returns to Academy League action Thursday

against visiting Oxford Academy.
