WEATHER FORECAST

Much like on Sunday, another beautiful sunny day will be presented

today, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Highs should hit the upper 60s, but

will fall short of 70 in Newport-Mesa. Lows will stay just below 50

degrees.

Tuesday won’t be nearly as nice, however, as the conditions become

partly cloudy and breezy with highs in the high 50s. There will even be a

slight chance of rain Tuesday afternoon.

BOATING FORECAST

In the inner waters, the northwesterly winds will blow 10 to 20 knots

this afternoon, with 2-foot waves and a west swell of 4 feet. Later, the

winds will remain consistent but waves will build to 2 to 3 feet.

Out farther, the northwesterly winds will blow 15 to 25 knots this

afternoon, with 4- to 5-foot waves and a northwest swell of 8 feet. Look

for winds to blow even stronger this evening at 25 to 35 knots, with

combined seas of 9 to 11 feet.

SURF

While many will have the day off today, it’s certainly not the day to

grab the board. Most waves encountered will be in the knee-range, with

the occasional waste-highs.

On Tuesday, however, the latest northwest swell comes in. Waist- to

chest-highs will be the norm, though they should get slightly larger when

the swell peaks on Wednesday.
