WEATHER FORECAST

While there is a slight chance of showers this morning, it appears the

winds will be the only thing worth troubling yourself about today.

Westerly winds of 15 to 25 mph will blow throughout the day.

Otherwise, partly cloudy skies will dominate the day, limiting the

highs to the low 60s. Overnight lows will be in the low 40s, though they

may feel as if they’re in the 30s due to the wind chill. Now there’s a

term rarely used in Newport-Mesa.

Expect warmer, windier and sunnier conditions on Wednesday.

BOATING FORECAST

In the inner waters this afternoon, the northwesterly winds will blow

10 to 20 knots, with 1- to 3-foot waves and a west swell of 5 feet. Much

of the same will be encountered tonight.

Out farther, a small craft advisory will be effect due to quite wind

conditions and a large swell. The northwesterly winds will blow 20 to 30

knots, with 3- to 5-foot waves and a northwest swell of 12 to 14 feet. By

night, not much will change, though the swell may build to 15 feet.

SURF

The latest northwest swell arrives today, so the waves should increase

from those knee- and waist-highs seen Monday. Instead, look for waist- to

chest-highs and the occasional shoulder-high. Conditions should improve

even more on Wednesday, when the swell peaks.
