AYSO Region 97: Breakers shut out opponents

The Newport Beach Breakers, a girls under-10 all-star soccer team

from AYSO Region 97, swept the first two games of the Area Q all-star

championships to take the lead in the Gold Division.

The Breakers shutout Costa Mesa, 3-0, in their first game. Brianna

Schwartz led the way with three goals. Terra Friedman, Tina Theriot and

Marianne Jones dominated on defense.

In the second game, the Breakers defeated Corona del Mar, 3-0. Kelly

Heenan scored two first-half goals and Schwartz found the net for another

goal to seal the win.

Courtney Francis was solid in the net to earn both shutouts. Elizabeth

Eddy, Caroline Hardenbergh, Kasey DeYoung and Missy Fitzsimmons

controlled the midfield for the Breakers (15-1-1).
