Newport North Shopping Center will have its annual winter sidewalk

sale today through Saturday, offering savings and special promotions to

shoppers. At B. Magness, for women’s clothing and accessories, the sales

merchandise is marked down up to 70%. A Basket Case is having a drawing

to win a valentine-themed basket worth $50. Customers will receive a

ticket for a chance to win the basket with every purchase. The basket is

filled with chocolates, plush toys, candles, bath and body products, and

specialty gourmet food items. Video Editor is having a DVD open house,

showing the latest DVD technology and demonstrating how to transfer

videotapes to DVD format. It will also offers savings on select

merchandise. At Newport North Optometric, customers can buy one complete

pair of glasses and receive a second pair free. There will also be a sale

on select frames reduced 70%, and if you buy two boxes of colored contact

is offering up to 50% off on select merchandise, and Labels Boutique has

The American Cancer Society Discovery Shop of Corona del Mar will have

its semiannual sale Friday with merchandise reduced 25% to 75%. On sale

are furs, leathers, ski apparel, winter clothing, shoes, pictures and

furniture. “This is one of the biggest and best sales of the season,”

says manager Gloria Godfrey. “We need to make room for our spring

designers and estates that will be rolling in as soon as we have room.”

Godfrey says that their prices are even more competitive with wholesalers
