Eight Huntington Beach students are semifinalists in the 2002 Music

Center Spotlight Awards. Classical dance semifinalists from Huntington

Beach were: Mary Braun, 14, a sophomore at Huntington Beach High School;

Megan Pulfer, 15, a sophomore at Marina High School; Ruth Stainer, 15, a

sophomore at Edison High School; Marci MacDonald, 17, a senior at

Huntington Beach High School; Kirby Killam, 17, a senior at Huntington

Beach High; Jade Payette, 14, a freshman at Huntington Beach High; and

Meghan Van Winkle, 15, a freshman at Huntington Beach High. . .

Huntington Beach resident Amy Baril, 16, a junior at Huntington Beach

High School, was named as a semifinalist for nonclassical dance. . . .

Army Pvt. Colin McElroy has graduated from basic combat training at Fort

Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Training included instruction in drill, marching,

rifle marksmanship, map reading and basic first aid. McElroy is the son

of Pat McElroy of Huntington Beach and a 2000 graduate of Ocean View High

School.
