The Orange Coast College baseball team suffered its first loss of

the season, 3-2, against Long Beach City College Tuesday at Joe Hicks

Memorial Field.

The Vikings (3-2) scored twice in the third inning, capped by

sophomore Omar Bramasco’s single that scored freshman Tony Martinez.

OCC (3-1) answered with a run in the fourth inning. The Pirates

capitalized on two Long Beach errors that kept the inning alive, allowing

freshman Zach Meredeth to score from second base on Jake Garcia’s single.

Long Beach took advantage of OCC’s miscues to score its third run of

the game in the fifth inning. Freshman Chris Ulery led off the inning

with a walk and went to third on a wild pitch and passed ball. Freshman

Julian Williams knocked in Ulery with a single to left field.

Orange Coast threatened in the bottom of the ninth. Sophomore Jeremy

Lahmann led off the inning with a double and advanced to third on a

ground out. Lahmann scored on a two-out pinch hit single by freshman Greg

Beniot, but Long Beach sophomore Robert Davis recorded the final out to

pick up his first save of the season.

Viking sophomore Chris Martin improved to 1-1 after allowing one

earned run and giving up six hits in seven innings. Sophomore Sam Greco

picked up the loss for OCC after allowing two runs on five hits in three

innings.

Freshman Kyle Stanley went 3 for 4 and Lahmann was 2 for 4 for Orange

Coast.
