Three employees have been promoted to the position of managing

director at Newport Beach-based Pacific Investment Management Co., one of

the world’s leading fixed-income managers. Portfolio manager James M.

Keller, serves as the head of the company’s government/derivatives desk

and manages long-duration funds. He joined the company in 1996, after

working as a derivatives trader at Merrill Lynch Inc. Keller, 37, has

served on the U.S. Treasury Borrowing Advisory Committee since 2000. He

has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and a master’s

from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. Raymond G.

Kennedy is a portfolio manager and senior member of the company’s

investment strategy group. He also manages high-yield funds and oversees

bank loan trading and consolidated debt obligations. Kennedy, 40, also

joined the firm in 1996, after serving as an asset manager for the

Prudential Insurance Co. of America, where he was responsible for

investing and managing a portfolio of high-yield, privately placed

fixed-income securities. Kennedy received his bachelor’s degree from

Stanford University and a master’s from the Anderson Graduate School of

Management at UCLA. Richard MacCoy Weil, 38, who became chief operating

officer in August 2000, was named general counsel in 1999. He was

appointed as the firm’s advisors’ managing director in 2000. He has been

associated with the law firm of Simpson, Thatcher & Bartlett. Weil

received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Duke University and his

juris doctorate from the University of Chicago. . . . Six new

philanthropists from Newport Beach and Costa Mesa have joined the board

of directors of Human Options, a nonprofit agency serving Orange County

victims of domestic violence. The six new members are Karen Clark, a

resident of Corona del Mar, who is a Newport Beach Library trustee and a

Woman in Leadership board member; Victoria Collins, a Newport Beach

resident who is a principal with the Keller Group Investment Management

Inc. in Irvine; Silla Decker, a Newport Beach resident and community

volunteer; Linda Martin, a Santa Ana resident who is the senior vice

president and general manager of NCG Porter Novelli in Newport Beach and

a Public Relations Society of America member; Daniel Sonenshine, a Costa

Mesa resident, past president and current board member of Bravo! Young

Professionals for the Orange County Performing Arts Center, committee

member for the Anti-Defamation League and co-chair of Temple Bat Yahm’s

2001 annual gala; and Keri Ueberroth Thomas, a Newport Beach resident,

Junior League of Orange County member and Ueberroth Family Foundation

member. Human Options has program sites in Costa Mesa, Irvine and Santa

Ana, and provides a comprehensive range of services, including a 24-hour

hotline, transitional housing, emergency shelter and community education

programs targeting students in kindergarten through college.
