Community college softball: Pirates sweep Rio Hondo
COSTA MESA - The Orange Coast College softball team swept in a
nonconference doubleheader over visiting Rio Hondo Saturday.
Coach Jim Bollinger’s Pirates (6-2) overcame a 4-0 first-inning
deficit to rally for a 7-6 victory to open the day. Freshman pitcher
Charlotte Kraft earned her third win of the season.
OCC then scored 12 runs in the first three innings and held off Rio
Hondo (3-4) for a 13-10 win. Freshman pitcher Mijanou Pham recorded her
third win of the season, as freshman Emilee Bodiford ripped two doubles
and Pham belted a triple.
The Pirates return to action Feb. 22, hosting Cypress at 3 p.m. to
open Orange Empire Conference play.
