I got quite a laugh out of Peter Buffa’s column on Feb. 2 as I have

the very same aversion to those horrible, despicable rodents as well

(Comments and Curiosities -- “Oh, those dratted rats”). It is also nice

to know that rat fear knows no gender. I am sure there were an equal

amount of men and women that could place themselves in his position.

Thank God Buffa has his wife to come to his rescue.

I had a mouse in the house one night at 10:30 p.m. and no one to come

to my rescue. The mouse must have sensed my panic and he ran right for

the slider screen door and slipped around the corner and out the door.

You don’t know the relief I felt when he made his escape. I would have

passed out had it been a rat.

Thanks for starting my Saturday morning off with my coffee and a great

laugh. All I could think was better him than me. I certainly wouldn’t

have been laughing had the shoe been on the other foot.

I always enjoy Buffa’s columns and always tell myself I am going to

e-mail him and never get around to doing it. I especially liked his take

on the cheerleading scandal at Newport Harbor High (“The positively true

adventures of a Newport Beach cheer squad,” Jan. 13. That too made me

chuckle. Keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing him around in

the community.
