UC Irvine defeated host UC Santa Barbara, 6-1, in a Big West

Conference women’s tennis match Sunday.

The Anteaters (3-3, 2-0 in conference) set the course from the

beginning, sweeping all three doubles matches.

UCI’s Jonni Seymour snapped Uzma Khan’s three-match winning streak

with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles.

“It was very close in the first set,” UCI Coach Mike Edles said.

“Seymour was down a service break. She picked up her game and Kahn just

couldn’t stay with her. She started picking up all her shots, the pace of

her shots.”

Seymour improved to 4-2. Also picking up victories in singles were

Tiffany Chang, Anna Bentzer, Hui Leow and Kristina Boss. The Gauchos fall

to 1-3, 0-2.
