Newport Beach general contractor earns recognition

McCarthy Building Cos. Inc., a Newport Beach general contractor, was

named the 2001-02 General Contractor of the Year by the American

Subcontractors Assn.’s Los Angeles and Orange County Chapter.

The award recognizes the contractor that adheres best to fair bidding

practices, fair contracts and prompt pay, and was presented to McCarthy

at the subcontractors association’s fourth annual awards banquet Oct. 24

in Industry Hills.

Members of the chapter are asked to nominate and eventually vote for

the general contractor they feel deserves the recognition.

McCarthy is the nation’s 17th largest domestic general contractor,

according to the May 2001 issue of Engineering News-Record. The company

offers construction management, general contracting and design/build

services for office buildings, parking structures, entertainment, retail,

educational, health care, laboratory biotechnical and microelectronic

industrial facilities.

In addition to its Newport Beach office, McCarthy has offices in

Sacramento, San Francisco, Phoenix, Las Vegas, St. Louis and Dallas.
