South Coast Plaza is opening new stores for spring. The new stores

include Traffic, Anne Fontaine and Van Cleef & Arpels.

Traffic is a destination for women looking for the latest in fashion

trends in apparel and accessories. The boutique features brands such as

Comme des Garcons, Moschino, Philosophy by Alberta Ferretti, Paul Smith,

Juicy Jeans, Frankie B., Alexander McQueen and more. The store is an

exclusive in Orange County, and is in South Coast Plaza’s Crate &

Barrel/Macy’s Home Store wing.

Anne Fontaine is a young French designer who creates her clothing in

the tradition of “white linen” in her country of origin, Brazil. Her

clothing collections are done in the simplicity of white, which in Brazil

is believed to bring good luck and is also the trend for the spring 2002

runway. The Anne Fontaine Boutique is a West Coast exclusive and will

open in March.

Van Cleef & Arpels will also open this spring, and is an Orange County

exclusive. It’s known for its innovative designs and settings, which

include the “mysterious setting” technique, which somehow hides the

prongs underneath a gemstone. Van Cleef & Arpels uses only the

highest-quality gemstones, and its pieces are often interchangeable. For

example, bracelets can be linked together to create necklaces, brooches

can become pendants or hair clips, and earrings have detachable drops.

Van Cleef & Arpels’ famous clientele includes the Duke and Duchess of

Windsor, Jacqueline Kennedy, Grace Kelly, the King of Nepal, Elizabeth

Taylor and Sophia Loren, to list a few.
