Back Bay Blast dominates

The Back Bay Blast won the season-ending Newport Beach Women’s

Soccer League tournament with a 5-1 victory over the White Lightning

soccer club.

Captain Kristen Brun helped the team post a 16-0-1 record for the season.

Providing defense were Monica Bowden, Jill Kalmbach, Kate Kelso and

Beth Barczewski. Nora Etter and Carolyn Smith also provided support.

Debra Wright dominated in midfield while Sherry Boston, Jamie Baligad,

Michelle Lorentz, Brigit Voss and Janet Hadley made key passes.

Carey Ross also had a solid effort while Michelle Garay, Sarah Sheen,

Gene Forsythe and Patti Torrey contributed on offense. Goalkeepers

Stephanie Noonan and Phyllis Truesdell were solid in the net.

Winning both the fall season and the tournament was a first for the

Blast, which has played in the NBWSL for six years.Pictured are, back row
