Youth soccer: Breakers roll

The Newport Beach Breakers wrapped up Area Q Gold Division girls

under 10 all-star competition with victories over North Irvine, 2-1, and

Tustin, 5-0, Saturday.

Against North Irvine, Tina Theriot and Elizabeth Eddy scored

first-half goals for the Breakers. Marianne Jones, Caroline Hardenbergh

and Terra Friedman controlled the game on the defensive end.

Against Tustin, Zoya Farzaneh and Kasey DeYoung found the back of the

net in the first half giving the Breakers a 2-0 lead at the break. Kelly

Heenan, McKenna Cottam and starting goalkeeper Courtney Francis scored

goals to finish Tustin off.

The champion Breakers (22-2-1) travel to Los Alamitos March 9-10 to

compete in the Southern California Sectional Championships.
