The CHOC Follies wants you to sing

Want to show your support for Children’s Hospital of Orange County by

getting on stage? Now’s your chance. Auditions for the sixth annual CHOC

Follies, titled “The Slipper and the Surfer: An Orange County Cinderella

Story,” will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday and from 2 to 4 p.m.

March 3 at the Sutton Place Hotel.

It is only necessary to attend one of the two auditions. Wear

comfortable clothes. Auditions will be done in groups, unless you are

auditioning for a solo. A pianist will be available. It is required of

each cast member to sell a minimum of $500 in tickets or sponsorships and

to take a tour of the hospital.

Rehearsals will be held Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings. The

Sutton Place Hotel is at 4500 MacArthur Blvd., Newport Beach.

Pacific Chorale appoints new education director

Pacific Chorale has appointed Helene Trudeau as director of

education.

With a background in arts programs for kids, Trudeau will overlook the

administration of 16 music education programs presented by Pacific

Chorale in Orange and Los Angeles counties.

The new director’s experience includes serving as the executive

director of Imagination Celebration of Orange County, working with the

Orange County Performing Arts Center and with the Music Center of Los

Angeles County.

Pacific Chorale’s education programs affect 20,000 people every year.

Guilds of the Center adds a new chapter

The Guilds of the Center, the support groups for the Orange County

Performing Arts Center, recently added a new gay and lesbian chapter to

meet from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Center on March 18.

Leaders said The Guilds, made up of 33 chapters and more than 2,100

members, strive to represent the community’s diversity and wants to

expand ways people can get involved with the Center.

Talk to celebrate National Opera Day

To celebrate National Opera Day and the birthday anniversary of the

late tenor Enrico Caruso, Patricia Shanks of Patricia Shanks Voice Studio

will speak about opera, singers and voice training at 11 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Monday at Alta Coffee, 506 31st St., Newport Beach.
