Community college baseball: Pirates drop OEC opener

MISSION VIEJO - The Orange Coast College baseball team opened its

Orange Empire Conference season with a 5-1 loss to host Saddleback

Tuesday.

The Pirates (11-3) scored their run in the fifth inning, after

allowing three runs in the fourth, when the Gauchos took over the game.

“We just didn’t adjust to their (starting) pitcher, who off-speed

(pitched) us to death” OCC Coach John Altobelli said. “We made a critical

error in the fourth which led to three runs.”

OCC returns to conference action Thursday at 2 p.m., hosting

Fullerton.
