Community college softball: Pirates mercied

COSTA MESA - The Orange Coast College lost, 14-3, in five innings

to Orange Empire Conference rival Golden West at OCC Wednesday.

The Rustlers opened with a nine-run first inning and the Pirates (6-6,

0-3 in the OEC) could not recover. Coast allowed 15 hits including three

doubles and two triples.

“It was very disappointing,” OCC Coach Jim Bollinger said. “It hasn’t

been a good week. We lost 6-3 to Riverside on Friday.”

The Pirates return to conference action Friday at 3 p.m., playing at

OEC-favorite Fullerton.
