Another ‘W’ for HB Silver

The HB Silver boys’ Under-12 Division All-Star team kept up its

winning ways in the final weekend of AYSO All-Star tournament play

Sunday, shutting out Tustin, 1-0, to capture the bronze medal.

Despite several attacks on goal, HB Silver and Tustin were scoreless

heading into the fourth quarter. A tripping penalty set up Ri Hansler at

the 40-yard line, and his direct kick sailed past the Tustin goalie and

into the net for the match’s only score.

HB Silver’s defense allowed just five goals in 10 tournament games and

garnered 70 points -- out of a possible 100 -- to finish in third place.

Coached by Randy Lack and Larry McNerney, HB Silver’s roster is

comprised of Clayton Brown, Sammy Captan, Nick Constantini, Chaz Haffke,

Bradley Hansen, Hansler, Borna Khavari, Ryan McNerney, Steven Moore, Cary

Pollard, Jacob Sobelman, Matt Weaver, Kevin Wills and Eric Woodworth.

In girls’ AYSO action:

Region 56 won the gold medal at the recent girls’ Under-12 Area K

All-Star tournament and will compete in early March at the Section 11

championships. The Region 56 team is comprised of Cassie Becker, Laura

Ogawa, Jessi Folsom, Emily Franciscus, Danika Schuesler, Kendal Bagby,

Stephanie Dunn, Kristen Mecklenburg, Brieanne Bergevin, Brianna Metzger,

Lauren Barteske, Kelsey Hwang, Kyanna Freeman, Erica Hardway and coaches

Bob Dunn and Jim Mecklenburg.
