High school softball: CdM prevails in opener

Starter Alissa Zoelle and Amy Tyson combined to pitch a

three-hitter to lead Corona del Mar High to a 10-3 nonleague softball

victory over visiting La Quinta Friday in the Sea Kings’ season opener.

CdM trailed 2-1 going into the fourth inning, but came up with four

runs to pull away for good. Amy Tyson tripled, Andrea Gruber hit two

doubles and Heather Lohrman had one to lead the Sea Kings (1-0)

offensively.

Jenna Martine went the distance for La Quinta, giving up nine hits.
