Congratulations to the Monahan clan, which welcomed its seventh

member, Ryan Christopher, Friday morning.

Ryan, the fourth boy in the bunch, made his official debut at 11:16

a.m. and was 9 pounds, 9 ounces, proud father Costa Mesa Councilman Gary

Monahan announced.

When asked how long his wife, Deborah, was in labor, Monahan said,

“Not that long. It’s our fifth kid.”

It’s a good thing Monahan has said he will hang up his City Council

hat because it sounds like he will be pretty busy. In addition to tending

to a newborn, the Monahans have an 8-year-old girl and 7-, 2- and

1-year-old boys to look after.

Council really passes the buck

In case you were not familiar with the tragic plight of the Mule Deer,

the Costa Mesa City Council has got your number.

The Mule Deer Foundation has enlisted the aid of mayors from across

the United States to heighten public awareness on the plight of the mule

deer.

Mayor Linda Dixon has answered their call.

The mayor will present a proclamation at tonight’s meeting for Mule

Deer Awareness Day, March 24, recognizing the apparent crisis the bucks

find themselves in during the winter season.

Not up on your Mule Deer facts? Don’t feel bad. The white-rumped

animals are most commonly found in Nebraska and Utah.
